A toys flea market in KL
Our team at Joujou + Shugi hadn't been having good night sleeps especially when our inaugural event is about to happen this coming weekend. Just recently, we received pleasant replies from toy shops such as XL-Shop, Dreamz Toy and E-Toyz as well as BrickGamers. I have previously written emails to practically all the toy shops I can manage to get hold of and told them about my little idea of running a toys market in the big city of Kuala Lumpur. It is indeed challenging (challenging, because there's nothing like a seriously toys + collectibles market around for serious collectors and we gotta start from scratch). XL-Shop, Dreamz Toy, E-Toyz and BrickGamers are few of the people who responded to our proposal. We will probably have something exciting lining up for toy collectors next year.
And hey, Brickgamers has written about us in their blog: http://brickgamers.blogspot.com/2008/11/toys-flea-market.html
BrickGamers was featured in GameAxis Unwired in 2006 and gradually became popularly known as the LEGO community. Today they continue the success online with a forum, a blog and original series of LEGO comics.
We thank BrickGamers for the event coverage and like BrickGamers, we too are not sure whether they'd be people selling LEGO at ARTrage Lab Soho KL on 29 + 30 Nov 08. With this toys market being a monthly event, it might turn into a popular spot in the Klang Valley to both buy and sell not just LEGO but other kinds of toys too!
Make a date with us!

Joujou + Shugi with D.U.R.A @ ARTrage Lab
Looks like there's a new girl in town...Meet D.U.R.A.
Duraton, or fondly known as D.U.R.A., plays stylist and fashion coreographer to her new found interest - the exttremely cute "Fashion-na-Animal Kingdom" paper dolls made from cardboards. Melts any environmentalist or vintage collector's heart!
J+S: How did you get into paper doll making?
D.U.R.A: It was when I started my ‘La mode des filles de la forĂȘt’ illustration work. When I joined Pipit Love Postcard event, I started making the mini version of the Animal Kingdom. From there, I made a few attempts of doodles and sketches and started dressing them up. I always ask myself "What's next?" and "What if?" so I thought why not make them into paper dolls. I tried to find the most convenient way of making them, and that is, cardboard. However, I had them illustrated on papers as well.
J+S: What's special about the fashion-na-animal collection?
D.U.R.A:Owh, definitely all the designers’ fashion collection that they are wearing. It's like an everyday fashion show in The Fashion Forest; imagining each one of them strutting down the streets in designer's label.
J+S: Do you collect toys yourself?
D.U.R.A: Unfortunately, no. When I was small I just had 2 dolls to play and when I grew up I never keep teddies or dolls with me. But I adore Barbie collections :)
J+S: Who is your favourite superhero?
D.U.R.A: Superman, of course. Despite his hideous costume. hehehe...
J+S: What will you be selling at Joujou + Shugi Toys & Collectibles Market, Soho KL?
D.U.R.A: My fashion-na-nimal paper dolls inspired from the 2008 and 2009 fashion collection by famous designers.
The "Fashion-na-Animal Kingdom" papers dolls are up for sale in ARTrage Lab @ Soho KL Grand Launch on the 29th & 30th November 2008. Don't they look cute for Christmas?

I want! I want!
"I need more cash."
"No space for display."
"I've the same collection."
"Bored of them."
"Moving out. Some stuff must go too."
Whatever your reason(s) for trading your once-my-precious-now-not-anymore toy collections, you now have a physical place to put them up for sale.
Joujou + Shugi Toys & Collectibles Market is open once a month during the weekend, and at different places each month. This time around, we will be at the North Atrium & South Atrium of Soho KL, Mont Kiara for the Soho KL Grand Launch. Expect a big crowd!
How to get there:
Apparently, when I rang Soho KL for the direction to the place, I was told that public transportation is not yet readily accessible around this newly-developed posh area. But, you may consider taking a cab from the Asia Jaya/Bangsar PUTRA LRT Station. Taxi fare ranges between RM20 and RM30. Ideally, the best way to travel is by car.
Hopefully, I am able to see you there!
